Everything is like skin care

From SPF to BoJack.

Acne. Dark spots from past acne. Hyperpigmentation. You’ve seen it all.

Then you decide to do something about it.

You start your research, everyone says use this product or that product or that other product in this sequential step or that other sequential step at this time of the day or that time of the night.

You finally do a consultation.

You get a routine. Morning and night.

5 products. Cleanser. Toner. Serum. Moisturiser. Sunscreen.

It’s easy, she said. But you have to do it everyday and night.

You start the routine. You’re excited.

1 week after, you’re breaking out like hell. The worst breakout you’ve ever had.

You stop skincare. You say it doesn’t work.

Everyone says it supposed to be really bad at first then it gets better. You don’t believe them. You give up completely.

Weeks have gone by. You pick it up again. Somehow it’s working, your face is getting cleaner, smoother, clearer. You’re happy.

Then you stop. You say the job is done.

Oops. Your face is defaulting to its initial state. You pick up skin care again.

Indefinitely.

Our lives are like skin care.

Learning. Working. Living.

It’s get worse, then it gets better, but you have to do it everyday. That’s the hard part.
